All visitors are welcome to browse through the Archnetwork website. A good place to start is to click on the various projects listed in the left column menu.

The most current news and events are listed in diary format on the home page, underneath the main introduction. Recent articles are listed on the right.

There is a facility to receive an email whenever any new items are put onto the site, or a specific area of the site. For example, a participant from Cyprus might choose to subscribe to the 'Cyprus' and 'Photo Library' categories. Or someone interested in 'Wood Science' might subscribe to the 'Italy' category since that is the area in which the Italian partners specialise..

To subscribe you first need to have a Blogware 'Reader' account. If you are a partner in the project you will already have a membership set up - contact the Archnetwork Site Administrator for your username and password. Once you have logged in you will have access to further information about using this site.

If you are taking part in one of the actions and need to submit a report, you can sign-up for a Reader account using the 'Create Reader account' link under the Login button in the left hand column. Once you have completed and submitted the form you will receive an email with a confirmation link. After you have confirmed your membership, you can subscribe to any of the categories on the site that you have permissions to view. If you have something to submit your access level will be adjusted accordingly.
.
The Blogware software is new to everyone on the project (including admin!). We will find out what can be done as the project gets going.

How to Subscribe

To become a subscriber to the arch blogware site, you must:

1. Click on the text in the left hand corner of the screen saying 'Create an Account'.

2. Enter what you want to be known as, your contact details and password (as discussed at the preparatory meeting or by email). This is a non critical password but it prevents uninvited guests from posting spam.

You can now log on and explore the site as a subscriber. You will also be notified of any articles that we post up onto the webpages of your choice. This can be quite a lot, however, so it is highly reccommended that you log-on, go to 'My Preferences' at the top of the page, and select only the fields that you are interested in receiving information about!

It is now possible for the site administrator to give project participants access for posting and editing your own words and pictures. An email will confirm your new status as a contributer and the words 'Post New Entry' will appear in the top right corner.

Pictures and text are uploaded separately. It is probably better to start with pictures. It is very easy to copy and paste 'text only' from MS Word.

Why Are We "Blogging" Culture 2000

The "News" style of the web site, "Blogging", is a very
interesting concept in itself - its certainly fashionable at the moment. I
have a vision of a stream of news items and pictures starting to arrive in my
mailbox from each of the EVACHE buildings - Germany, Scotland, Slovakia and
Iceland. Hopefully the same stream of information will be read by all the
partners and participants (as they choose). However, we also have some outsiders
involved here in the UK, in that some members of the UK parliament have
expressed an interest in following our progress through the web
site.

Everything that appears on the web site is available in an RSS
feed (a kind of live update summary available in many types of software
including the Firefox web browser). This makes it very easy for news media to
follow our progress and pick up on anything that appeals to them.
